Buy a cape code if the cape you want is still sold as a code and you want it on your own account. Buy a cape account if the cape is retired, like Founder's, Cherry Blossom, Migrator or Follower's. As of October 10, 2026, cape codes at 4D4P Shop start at $0.50 and rare cape accounts start at $9.50.
What is a Minecraft cape code?
A cape code is a 25-character code you redeem on your own Microsoft or Minecraft account. Once redeemed, the cape stays on your account for good. You keep your username, your worlds and your history. Nothing else changes.
Codes are the lower-risk option. You do not take over anyone else's account, so there is nothing to secure afterwards.
What is a Minecraft cape account?
A cape account is a whole Minecraft account that already has the cape on it. You buy the account, not just the cape. At 4D4P Shop these are Full Access, meaning you get the login and the linked email, so you can change the password, username and skin.
Official capes are locked to the account that received them. They cannot be moved to another account. So when a cape is no longer given out as a code, an account that already has it is the only way to get it.

Which capes can you still get as a code?
At 4D4P Shop, five capes are sold as codes. Prices and stock were checked on October 10, 2026.
Cape code | Price | Stock |
|---|---|---|
Aurora | $0.50 | In stock |
Builder | $1.00 | In stock |
Home | $1.00 | In stock |
Copper | $1.00 | In stock |
Purple Heart | $8.00 | In stock |
All five are on the Minecraft cape codes page.
The Purple Heart cape is a good example of why codes matter. The code costs $8.00, while a full account with the cape was listed at $14.00. With the code, the cape goes on the account you already play on.
Founder's cape code
4D4P Shop does not sell a Founder's cape code. The Founder's cape came from a free Founder's Cape skin pack on the Bedrock Marketplace, announced at MINECON Live 2019. Today it is only available on accounts. A Founder's cape account costs $30.00, with 1 in stock. View the Founder's cape account.
Cherry Blossom cape code
There is no Cherry Blossom code at 4D4P Shop. The cape was given for taking part in the 2023 Mob Vote at Minecraft Live 2023. The account is listed at $15.00 but was sold out on October 10, 2026. View the Cherry Blossom cape account.
Migrator cape code
The Migrator cape is not sold as a code. It went to players who moved an old Mojang account to a Microsoft account, and it is Java only. A Migrator cape account is the cheapest rare cape account at $9.50, with 14 in stock. View the Migrator cape account.
Follower's cape code
4D4P Shop does not sell a Follower's cape code. The cape was a TikTok livestream reward during the 15 Days of Minecraft celebration, May to June 2024. A Follower's cape account costs $17.00, with 3 in stock. View the Follower's cape account.
For every cape account and its price, see the Minecraft Cape Price List.
Is the Founder's cape worth it?
That depends on how much you want it. The Founder's cape is rated rare in our list, it was only claimable for a limited window, and it is no longer given out. At $30.00 it is cheaper than the Minecraft Experience cape ($60.00) but well above common capes like Migrator ($9.50). Prices for retired capes tend to rise as stock dries up, but nothing is guaranteed. See the rarest Minecraft capes ranking for how it compares.
Are there free Minecraft cape codes in 2026?
Official free capes only come from Mojang events and promotions. Past examples include the 15th Anniversary cape, a free claim on Minecraft.net in 2024, and the Purple Heart cape, earned by watching a Minecraft Twitch stream. When Mojang runs a promo like this, it announces it through official Minecraft channels.
Websites, videos and Discord DMs that promise free cape codes are usually scams. Many are phishing pages that ask you to log in "to claim" the cape, then steal your account. Never type your Microsoft login into a "free cape" site.
How to stay safe with either option
With a cape code, the main rule is simple. Redeem it yourself on the official Minecraft or Microsoft site, and never give your login to anyone.
With a cape account, secure it right after delivery:
- Change the password to a long one you do not use anywhere else.
- Keep the original email on the account. It keeps your lifetime warranty valid.
- Turn on two-step verification with your own phone or an authenticator app.
- Sign out of all other devices from the Microsoft account security page.
- Save your Order ID. You need it if you ever contact support.
